Solitude Family Reunion
We had a great family reunion this last week. We were able to go as a family to the Solitude resort to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
There were over 50 members of my parents family with us over the weekend. This is a picture of Sandra standing on the balcony of our condominium looking toward the east. We had two condominiums for our family. If you look across the courtyard here, you can see the east building. Lisa, Clint, and their family had a three bedroom condominium on the fourth floor of this building. In the morning, we were able to wave to each other from our balconies.
This second view is looking out of our balcony to the west. The rest of the village is in view as well as the mountain. As you will see a little latter in this blog, we were able to ride the chair lift up the mountain for a little hike an a nice lunch in the mountains.
We all had a great time. One of the highlights of the week was the times that we were able to get together as a family to have dinner together and then to have a program. The first night we had a nice dinner and volley ball game. On Friday night we had a big family program. Here is a picture of Mom and Dad at this program. Christine and Sandra were able to produce a DVD that presented some fantastic pictures of the family. They were great times to be together.
Suzanne was able to visit us from BYU. She was very dedicated and worked on her homework and wrote a paper for her Shakespeare class. I am happy to report that it was not all work.
The good news was that Suzanne was able to take some time to prepare for the new Harry Potter book by catching up on her past reading. She will certainly be prepared for the final segment of the Harry Potter series. (I have it on good authority that she - as has Sandra and Christine - finished the book this week.)
We had several good family games. I am sad to report that I was not able to be successful at any of the events; however, I did give the effort my best try. Maybe better luck next time.
One of the best part of the resort was the swimming pool. Everyone enjoyed the water (even Sandra - although a bit from a distance). The children particularly enjoyed going down the slide many times a day.
On Saturday, we had a great day outside. We started with a series of baseball games, making model airplanes, and playing bocce. There was a lot of energy. As you can see in the picture, Clint is teaching Jacob how to hit the curve ball.
After the games on the field, we went to get tickets to ride the chair lift to the top of the mountain, although as you can see, Isaac would rather have taken a scooter.
To prove that we all made the trip to the top of the mountain. We had a great meal after we had hiked about half way to Lake Solitude.
Sandra and I were able to make the hike as well. Sandra shows us how to hike in style with a nice camp chair. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Grant you did a great job on the blog. I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks again for having us out and I promise I will eventually get around to posting about the event. My blog is a little behind right now :(
